All Ainsworth mills now SFI, PEFC certified

Vancouver, CANADA — Ainsworth® has achieved certification under the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) program at all three Canadian mill operations. All Ainsworth wood products are now available Chain of Custody certified under SFI and also the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes (PEFC).

Ainsworth engaged KPMG Performance Registrar Inc. to carry out the third-party SFI audit during September and October 2010. The Ainsworth SFI multi-site certification was comprised of two timberland operations and one procurement operation. The SFI and PEFC corporate chain of custody audit was conducted at the same time.

All Ainsworth products are now available with Chain of Custody certification. In addition to commodity OSB, these include new pointSIX® Flooring products, AinsworthEngineered Thermastrand® radiant barrier sheathing, Durastrand® Rimboard, and SteadiTred® stair tread panels.

“The marketplace continues to seek assurances that wood products come from sustainable sources,” noted Robert Fouquet, vice president, marketing and sales for Ainsworth. “This certification validates our continued efforts to bring value-added sustainable products to our customers in North America and overseas”, he added.

Ainsworth products are available through a network of independent distributors.
